Foodie Adventure in Flushing, NY: A Culinary Tour
If you’re a food lover, you definitely cannot miss Flushing, NY. This vibrant neighborhood is a haven for those craving authentic Asian cuisine. Recently, I took my parents to the airport and seized the opportunity to explore this culinary gem. Come along as I take you on my delightful food journey!
First Stop: Shanghai Yuyuan
Address: 135-33 40th Rd, Flushing, NY 11354
Arriving in Flushing before many restaurants opened, I chose to start with Shanghai Yuyuan, a delightful spot with great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by their green rice balls 🟢 and crab roe soup dumplings 🥟. The rich filling of the green rice balls, featuring a flowing salted egg yolk and meat floss, was too good to resist, and I had to pack some to take home!
Second Stop: Shakalaka Bakery
Address: 136-76 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354
Next, as a self-proclaimed yam lover 💜, I ventured into Shakalaka Bakery. I tried their meat floss puff and yam mochi bun. The meat floss puff was delightful 😋, while the mochi bun was a bit tough. However, reheating it the next morning made it a tasty breakfast! The bakery captured that familiar essence of Chinese bakeries back home. A definite must-try!
Third Stop: Chongqing Spicy Noodles
Address: 136-20 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354 (Food Court B1)
The nostalgia hit me hard as I made my way to Chongqing, craving their renowned spicy noodles. They only accept cash here, so be prepared! While the toppings weren’t as authentic as I hoped, the broth had the right level of spice and flavor that transported me straight to the streets of Chongqing. Even my friend, who usually avoids spicy food, couldn’t resist a taste!
Fourth Stop: Heytea
Address: 38-02 Prince St Floor 1, Flushing, NY 11354
After indulging in savory dishes, it’s time for something sweet! With my sweets craving kicking in, I headed to Heytea for some milk tea. Flushing has two branches, which made me wonder why Philadelphia can’t have one too! Has anyone tried the jasmine milk tea? I’d love to hear your thoughts on its flavor!
Fifth Stop: Fat Cat Guokui
Address: Food Court #6, 133-35 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354
Although I was already stuffed, I couldn’t resist rounding off our food tour at Fat Cat Guokui. I decided to get some to-go for breakfast during the next few days. The flavors of the preserved vegetables and salted egg yolk with meat floss were unbelievably tasty!
Last Stop: Erhou Roast Chicken
Address: 35-38 Union St, Flushing, NY 11354
Before we left for the day, I made a final stop at Erhou Roast Chicken to grab some beef tendons and pepper chicken. I can confidently say they were legit delicious, and you better believe I’ll be back for more next time!
That wraps up my delightful morning food tour in Flushing! I ended the day with more food adventures in Edison, where I tried the amazing Four Seas Jianghu Cuisine, but that’s a story for another day. Stay tuned for more culinary escapades! 🍽️ #FlushingEats #NYCFoodie #CulinaryJourney #FoodLoversAdventure
