Exploring the Beauty of Mt. Hood & Mt. Adams: A Hidden Gem in Oregon

Oregon is home to some breathtaking landscapes, and two of its most iconic mountains, Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, offer picturesque views that feel straight out of a movie. Whether you’re an avid photographer or simply a nature lover, this region has something for everyone. 📸

The Allure of Lost Lake

One of the must-visit spots in this area is Lost Lake. The name is fitting, as the road to get there is winding and remote, making the arrival feel like discovering a hidden treasure. Once you reach the viewpoint, you’ll understand why it’s worth the trek — the scenery is absolutely stunning! Personally, I find it even more beautiful than the more famous Trillium Lake.

Lavender Farms: A Colorful Experience

During my trip, I had the pleasure of visiting two lavender farms: Hood River Lavender Farm and Hope Ranch Lavender. If you’re looking to capture that perfect shot of lavender against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, I highly recommend Hope Ranch. Here, both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams are unobstructed by trees, creating a striking visual. Since it’s less known than Hood River Lavender Farm, you’ll also find fewer crowds here, making it an ideal spot for photography. 🌸

In contrast, the Hood River Lavender Farm is larger and offers more amenities, including ice cream (which wasn’t the best but worth a try!). However, the sheer number of visitors can limit your experience, as blooming lavender often gets picked quickly, leaving less for those looking to snap photos.

A Taste of Authenticity at Grace Su’s China Gorge Restaurant

After a day of exploring, I recommend stopping by Grace Su’s China Gorge Restaurant for a satisfying meal. This American-Chinese restaurant surprises with some delightful dishes like Chongqing chicken and stir-fried vegetables. The owner, who grew up in Indonesia, is remarkably friendly and even provided us with a Fruit Loop map for reference. She also suggested visiting Lost Lake, which turned out to be a splendid recommendation! 🍽️

Final Thoughts

If you’re in the Mt. Hood area and crave some delicious Chinese cuisine while soaking up the beauty of nature, these destinations should be at the top of your list. From the enchanting views at Lost Lake to the aromatic lavender fields and delicious dining experiences, there’s so much to enjoy in this part of Oregon. So pack your bags, grab your camera, and set out on an unforgettable adventure! 🌄
