Building an Etsy Shop: My First Month Journey 🚀

Setting up an Etsy store can be an exhilarating experience, especially if it’s your first time. However, as I recently learned after launching my own shop, there’s quite a bit of strategy involved. Here’s a glimpse into what I accomplished in my first month. 🤔

Slow and Steady Wins the Race 🐢

After having two previous shops shut down, I came equipped with valuable lessons. The key takeaway? Don’t rush! Initially, it’s crucial to take time to nurture your store during the first few months. I found that introducing 2-3 new products each week keeps the shop lively and encourages customer interest. Ensuring your shop profile is thoroughly filled out is another important step. Additionally:

• Most products should offer free shipping
• Enable discount code auto-send features
• Utilize tools like Erank and Ehunt to optimize listings and track data

Advertising and Visibility 📈

After observing my data during the first two weeks, I made the decision to run internal ads. The initial goal was to boost visibility, as I was struggling with traffic. 😂 Once I turned the ads on, I did notice an improvement in shop traffic; however, things took a strange turn recently. The ads didn’t seem to yield the same results, yet organic traffic began to rise slightly. I’m still trying to pinpoint the cause of this anomaly!

Sales Overview: A Humble Beginning 📊

By the end of the first month, I had made a total of 5 sales! Not to shabby for a beginners’ venture into the world of eCommerce. Currently, my shop features over 10 products, primarily custom-made items priced around $150 AUD on average. It’s worth noting that only 1-2 of those products are showing significant activity.

Excitingly, as the month came to a close, I received my very first order from the USA—two items from a single customer! What a delightful way to kick off this journey! 🥹 I’m ready to tackle the next month with renewed enthusiasm and determination!
