Academic Background

Dr. Zhichun Guo is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the team led by Professor David Baker at the University of Washington (2024-2025). In the fall of 2025, Dr. Guo will join the Emory University Computer Science Department as an Assistant Professor in a tenure-track position. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in May 2024, under the guidance of Professor Nitesh Chawla. Dr. Guo graduated with honors from Fudan University with a degree in Computer Science.

Research Fields

Dr. Guo is dedicated to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of artificial intelligence and data science. His primary areas of focus include:

• Innovations in Graph Neural Networks and their applications in chemical molecular modeling and link prediction
• Groundbreaking applications of large language models and machine learning in bioinformatics and related scientific fields
• Building an interdisciplinary research framework for AI4Science

Academic Legacy

Dr. Guo’s research is distinguished by a triad approach: “theoretical innovation – technological breakthroughs – industrial application.” During his doctoral studies, he made significant advancements in optimizing graph neural networks for real-world scenarios, with results that have been adopted by multiple industrial applications.

Team Development

Starting in the fall of 2025, Dr. Guo will establish the Intelligent Computing Lab at Emory University. The lab is inviting applications from around the globe for the following positions:
