Exploring Los Angeles: A New Year Adventure

Exploring Los Angeles: A New Year Adventure

Welcome to a unique journey in Los Angeles during the festive Lunar New Year! 🐉 We were lucky enough to experience the first rain following a wildfire that swept through LA. Let’s dive into the highlights of our trip!

Day 1: Universal Studios

We kicked off our adventure at Universal Studios, where we enjoyed a stress-free day from 10 AM to 5 PM. Of all the exciting attractions, the Mario ride had the longest queue of about 20 minutes, while most other experiences were almost immediate! For those planning a visit, I recommend checking out my detailed travel guide.

Getting around LA was easy thanks to the public transportation system. The metro stations here are among the cleanest and most beautiful in the U.S.! 🌟

Day 2: Downtown City Ride

Our next stop was the Angels Flight Railway, a picturesque spot featured in films like “Lalaland.” The ride is a steal at just $1. Don’t forget your camera as the views are simply stunning!

Right across the street is the Grand Central Market, a food lover’s paradise filled with local delicacies. After indulging in some tasty bites, we headed to the Crypto.com Arena, home to the Lakers and featuring two statues of the legendary Kobe Bryant—definitely worth a visit for sports fans!

Next, we wandered through Beverly Hills, where I stumbled upon new spring collections. The vibrant red hues complemented the New Year festivities perfectly! As the evening approached, we made our way to Griffith Observatory for sunset. While the crowds were thick with folks eager to catch the view, the experience was unforgettable, even as rain began to fall. A tip for future visitors: download offline maps beforehand as cell reception may be spotty up there! 📶

Day 3: Hollywood & Sunset

On our final day, we checked out the iconic Hollywood Sign. We discovered three hidden gems for photos that turned out spectacular! For specific locations, be sure to check my other blog entry.

Next, we drove along Playa Del Rey, a lesser-known beach road where we managed to catch glimpses of planes flying overhead. ✈️ As the day wrapped up, we headed to Santa Monica, the perfect spot for a quintessential California sunset. Make sure to arrive before 5 PM as winter sunsets come early! 🌅

No trip to Hollywood would be complete without a stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where we found stars for icons like Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Anne Hathaway! And of course, I couldn’t miss Marvel signatures among the stars.

Food Adventures

The culinary scene in LA is fantastic! We made sure to taste some must-try dishes:

  • IN-N-OUT Burger: A California classic you can’t pass up! The double-double is a must, and the hot chocolate is surprisingly delightful! 🍔
  • Eggslut: A haven for egg lovers, with endless innovative dishes—try the Fairfax variety! 🥚
  • Jincook Korean Restaurant: My friend claimed LA’s Korean food is even better than in Korea, and after dining there, I completely agree! 🍽️

Final Thoughts

Overall, navigating LA is quite convenient with public transport, and if you’re driving, parking is easier than in Boston! If you happen to catch good weather, it makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. ⭐
