Exploring the Iconic Hollywood Sign: A Guide for Your LA Adventure
Since winter two years ago, I discovered the winter vacation destination of Palm Springs 🌞 in the lovely Vancouver area, and of course, the nearby city of Los Angeles 🌴😜. While I usually avoid tourist traps, I couldn’t resist stopping by the Hollywood Sign when I saw it featured by Chung Chuxi in late February 🤔. If there’s one emblem worth visiting in the world, it’s definitely Hollywood!
Top Photo Spots for Capturing the Hollywood Sign
After doing my research online, I compiled a list of solid photo spots to capture the iconic Hollywood Sign:
1. The Classic Hollywood Sign Viewpoint (Photo Spots 1-2)
This spot offers one of the best views of the Hollywood Sign, ensuring a perfect picture. Navigate to Lake Hollywood Park at 3160 Canyon Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068 (See Photo 9). This location is a small hill where you can park by the roadside. Use a telephoto lens to zoom in on the sign while avoiding the crowd; everyone can take their photos without interference!
2. Lake Hollywood Park (Photo Spot 3)
The adjacent Lake Hollywood Park is a fantastic place for dog lovers! This area is super pet-friendly, so you can capture adorable photos of your furry friends having fun. I wish I had brought my little pup, #12, along for the experience! Next time for sure!
3. Closer to the Hollywood Sign (Photo Spots 4-5)
As you drive toward the base of the Hollywood Sign, you will easily recognize the area along the street (even if the street name escapes your mind!). You’ll also stumble upon the retro green truck that Chung Chuxi was photographed with, adding a nostalgic touch to your outing.
4. Griffith Observatory (Photo Spots 6-7)
Situated at 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027, this observatory not only provides a view of the Hollywood Sign but is also a filming location for the movie La La Land. Although the sign may not appear as large or clear, the stunning backdrop is worth the visit. Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at this charming location in my next post!
5. Hidden Gems: 523 S Windsor Blvd
This lesser-known spot features lush palm trees framing the Hollywood Sign and allows for a more intimate photo opportunity, though the sign appears smaller here. Remember, sometimes the journey is more about the unique spots you discover along the way!💕
Final Photo Tips
To ensure the best photo quality, a telephoto lens (whether on your phone or a camera) is essential. And let’s not forget, the California sunshine ☀️ is incredible for photos! The afternoon sunlight can be quite intense, so don’t forget your sunglasses! 🕶️
