My Disappointing Experience with Safe Ship Moving Services

Moving can be a daunting task even in the best of circumstances. Unfortunately, my experience with Safe Ship Moving Services turned out to be a nightmare. 🤯 After spending 25 days waiting for my belongings, I can confidently say that I learned a hard lesson about choosing the right moving broker.

The Unfortunate Details of My Move

When my partner and I decided to move out of our one-bedroom apartment, we thought we were well-prepared. We handled all the packing ourselves, but the final bill shocked us beyond belief! How could it cost so much? 💸

1️⃣ Never Use Safe Ship (Moving Broker) Again!

Firstly, we were lured in by their enticing low quote, which later proved to be a trap. The initial estimate based on cubic square feet was a paltry 580 ft³, but on moving day, that number jumped to 810 ft³! They conveniently didn’t mention additional costs like stair fees and door-to-truck fees, leading us to pay an unexpected 40% more than initially quoted. 😡

In an effort to lock in this attractive low price, the sales representatives pressured us to sign quickly and pay a deposit. What they don’t make clear is that this deposit is 100% a broker’s fee, completely unrelated to the actual costs of the moving company (carrier payment). After signing the Bill of Lading, we found ourselves obligated to pay the moving company even more for pickup and delivery.

To make matters worse, Safe Ship doesn’t operate its own fleet. They outsource to third-party moving companies (carriers), and we only learned who our carrier would be just three days before our scheduled move. We were left with no time to change our plans, effectively rolling the dice on the integrity and quality of the carrier. 😤 Our assigned mover had no website, and their reputation was non-existent on platforms like Google Reviews or Yelp!

2️⃣ Always Check Reviews Before Choosing a Broker

Looking back, I realize that my initial research on Safe Ship was far too cursory. What seemed like a reasonable choice quickly unraveled into a series of complaints from fellow customers echoing my own experience. It’s vital to thoroughly investigate any moving service ahead of time! 🧐 Check out feedback on:

Conclusion

Moving doesn’t have to be an ordeal, but choosing the wrong moving broker can turn it into a nightmare. If you’re planning a move, take my advice: always do thorough research, read customer reviews, and never rush into signing contracts. Your belongings deserve a reliable and trustworthy moving service! 🌟

By sharing my experience, I hope to help others avoid similar pitfalls in their moving journeys. Stay informed and move smart!
