Discovering Culinary Delights in K-Town: A Cozy Visit to Tosokchon 🍴
This week in New York City has been filled with drizzly, overcast weather, which makes it the perfect time for a warm bowl of soup. Luckily, I had the chance to take my parents to one of my favorite Korean spots near K-Town, Tosokchon! 🤫🥰
Location and Ambience
Tosokchon is tucked away at 14E 33rd St. While it may not be as widely recognized on social media, I genuinely believe this hidden gem offers an exceptional dining experience. My parents shared my enthusiasm, particularly after trying some dishes we had never ordered before!
Menu Highlights
- Spicy Galbi Jjim 🥩 – This dish is hands down the spiciest I’ve ever had in New York! Just the right amount of heat 🌶️, with no overwhelming sweetness. The tenderness of the meat was remarkable, practically falling off the bone, and the potatoes soaked up all the flavorful broth.
- Chicken Bulgogi 🍗 – The thigh meat was juicy and well-prepared. The traditional Korean spicy sauce gave it an authentically delightful taste that had us coming back for more.
- Yukgaejang Kalguksu – A spicy beef noodle dish that comes in a surprisingly large bowl! 😂 While it appears fiery, the spice level was manageable. The knife-cut noodles had a wonderful chewiness that soaked up the rich broth, and the generous chunks of beef made it a hearty meal.
- Sofu Soup with Seafood – Just as delightful as I expected, this soup isn’t overly salty, allowing us to savor every last drop! 😋
- Seafood Pancake – This is a must-try for me every time! The pancake is perfectly thick with crispy edges and a soft, chewy center. It’s simply delightful! 🤫
Final Thoughts
Overall, I can confidently say Tosokchon is a restaurant I will continue to revisit in K-Town. They offer a diverse range of dishes, excellent spice levels, and delightful flavors that perfectly suit my palate. 🎉 If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss out on this wonderful Korean culinary experience!
