A Hidden Gem in NYC: A Michelin Recommended Delight! 🤤
Stumbling upon a hidden treasure is always a delightful surprise, especially in a bustling place like New York City. Recently, I discovered a charming restaurant that very few people have shared online! The restaurant proudly displays a Michelin 2024 sticker at its entrance, clearly indicating that it’s a Michelin recommendation. Given the affordable price and a delightful 4-course meal, I expected either bland flavors or tiny portions — but I was completely wrong! Not only was I full, but the flavors exceeded my expectations! 🌟 I highly suggest bringing 3-4 friends along for this culinary experience, as it allows everyone to sample the diverse offerings of the menu.
🥖 Complimentary Starter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This complimentary starter is a true surprise! It’s a rich and hearty soup, featuring little chewy dough balls that are incredibly satisfying and delicious.
1️⃣ First Course
- 🐟 Hwe Platter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Recommended) – A refreshing appetizer featuring fish and scallops accompanied by a tangy sauce reminiscent of ceviche.
- 🥗 Odre Caesar Salad ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A palate-cleansing chicken Caesar salad. While it’s not overly impressive, it’s still quite good.
- 🥒 Cold Asparagus ⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Asparagus and shrimp served in a mayonnaise dressing. Though it’s visually appealing, the taste was a bit lackluster.
2️⃣ Second Course
- 🍄🟫 Mung Bean Fritter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Recommended) – Crispy fried fritters cut into three small pieces, served with Korean kimchi and mushrooms. The combination amazed me, creating a rich flavor experience!
- 🥟 Snow Crab Mandoo ⭐️ – The most common dish on the menu, consisting of three small dumplings; you can skip this.
- 🥦 Broccolini Jeon ⭐️⭐️ – Just some fried vegetables; it was average.
3️⃣ Third Course (served with the fourth course)
- 🐟 Cod ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – The cod fish was tender and quite pleasant!
- 🥩 Beef Shank ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Recommended) – This dish was the standout of the evening! The beef was incredibly tender, practically falling apart, and served in generous portions. You can’t go wrong by ordering this!
- 🦆 Duck Gui ⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Although not very large, the duck meat had a lovely flavor.
4️⃣ Fourth Course
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This course came beautifully plated but felt a little underwhelming in flavor. It included a variety of traditional Korean side dishes such as kimchi, pickled radishes, tofu, and strawberries. While visually stunning, the ingredients were quite simple, and I found the taste to be mild. I didn’t finish this one as it did not pique my interest.
Final Thoughts
It’s not often you find a restaurant that offers such beautifully presented meals while also leaving you feeling full! For an average of $50 per person, this experience was incredibly worthwhile. Don’t miss out on checking out ODRE when you’re in New York City! It’s a fantastic find that will surely impress at every course.
