Toilet Training Tips for Parents: Insights from Sunny and AAP
Toilet Training Insights: Different Perspectives from Sunny and the AAP
Recently, I’ve delved into the discussion surrounding toilet training for toddlers, specifically contrasting insights from Sunny, practical parenting methods, and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). It’s intriguing to discover the varying perspectives on when and how to initiate this essential milestone in a child’s early development.
Understanding the Contradictions
The core difference lies in the timing and approach to toilet training. The AAP suggests that children should start toilet training closer to two years of age, while Sunny advocates beginning as early as birth! On the other hand, practical parenting methods recommend starting around nine months of age, when the child can sit independently.
Sunny’s Approach to Toilet Training
Today, I’m excited to share Sunny’s approach and methodology regarding toilet training. Stay tuned for more focused discussions on the nuances of this topic, including:

Fellow parents, I encourage you to adapt these tips based on your child’s unique circumstances! After all, every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another.
A Personal Experience with My Child, Orange 🍊
Let me share a little about my journey with my 17-month-old, whom I affectionately call Orange. He became quite aware of his diaper situation, often touching it to remind us with a cute “jiejie” (older sister) call. However, due to significant changes at home during that time, we couldn’t dive headfirst into a toilet training plan.
Despite this, I reassured him, saying, “It’s okay, go ahead!” and to my surprise, he did! It wasn’t until he reached almost 19 months that we formally began the toilet training process, though he had stopped reminding us by then. I often felt that I had missed the optimal window for training, but I understood that sometimes plans change.
Now at 20 months, we are still actively training, waiting for the right moment when I can be more available. Here’s to navigating these parenting stages together! #ScientificParenting #ToiletTraining #NewParents
