After years in the truck repair industry, we’ve encountered our fair share of urea leaks. However, nothing could prepare us for the sight of a truck with urea crystals piled up like a “mountain”! Seeing the entire aftertreatment system encapsulated by these crystals was a first for us. It was quite a sight! 🤯

The Careful Process of Cleaning

To avoid damaging the costly SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, a Cummins part that can easily cost upwards of $8,000, my husband had to painstakingly chip away at the crystalline buildup with a small hammer. This process demanded patience and precision, ensuring that we didn’t cause any further issues for the truck owner. ⏳🔧

Attention to Detail: Cleaning the Wires

Once we cleared the visible crystals, our job was far from over. We had to remove the wiring harness and clean it thoroughly. This step was critical to guarantee that all connections were free from contaminants, as dirty connections could lead to electrical problems down the road. ⚡🔌
