Exploring Chicago’s Culinary Gems: Top Spots for Happy Hour
Discovering Chicago’s Culinary Delights 🍽️
Recently, my boyfriend and I have been on a mission to explore some of Chicago’s famous restaurants and happy hour hotspots. If you’re looking for great places to unwind after work, school, or during the weekend, keep reading! 🎉
1. Gus Sip and Dip 🥂
Located in River North, Gus Sip and Dip is a trendy little tavern with an impressive selection of drinks. We found that almost every drink was a hit! My boyfriend ventured to order three cocktails, with his favorite being the White Russian. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, I’d recommend going for the Clover Club—it’s fruity and refreshing! 🍹
2. Girl and The Goat 🐐
This fusion restaurant was highly anticipated, but it left us feeling a bit underwhelmed compared to the other fabulous dining options on Fulton Market. Nevertheless, be sure to try their goat liver mousse; it’s a must-try item on the menu!
3. KALA Modern Greek 🌿
A top recommendation is KALA in Lincoln Park! We didn’t have a reservation and decided to walk in, and it was a great choice! We indulged in their famous Skewer Plate and Gyros, which were both delicious and satisfying. If you’re in Lincoln Park, this is a spot you won’t want to miss!
4. Proxi 🍜
Next up is Proxi, a renowned Asian fusion restaurant located near OTC. Many dishes transported me instantly back to Shanghai. We were happy to find that their happy hour menu didn’t disappoint either. The crab rangoon dip was particularly memorable—steaming hot and quite unique!
5. Cabra 🇵🇪
Perhaps the biggest surprise of our foodie adventure was Cabra, specializing in Peruvian cuisine. I can’t emphasize enough how much you must try their sweet potato donut! It’s been ages since we tasted such a delicious dessert. My boyfriend remarked, “A dessert that makes you want to eat another bite is something special.” 😂 It’s not overly sweet but incredibly addictive! Their happy hour offerings also proved to be delightful, soothing away a long day of working and studying. 🥲
Conclusion
We had an amazing time exploring the vibrant food scene of Chicago, and I hope you find this list of suggestions helpful! May your dining adventures be as enjoyable and fulfilling as ours. Happy eating! 🥳 #ChicagoEats #HappyHour #FoodAdventures #NorthwesternUniversity
