One Week in Alaska: A Dream Come True! 😭

Alaska has always been a destination of dreams, and my week there was undeniably one of my happiest times ever! Surrounded by majestic glaciers, towering mountains, and vibrant wildflowers, my aesthetic expectations soared to new heights. 🥹 Let me share some of my experiences and provide you with a handy guide!

🧊 Day 0: Arrival in Anchorage ✈️

My adventure began in Anchorage, the gateway to the incredible beauty of Alaska. I arrived eager and excited to explore what was in store for me.

🧊 Day 1: 26 Glacier Tour ✅

Starting from Whittier, I was greeted by breathtaking views of glaciers and icebergs that words can’t do justice to. Surprise Glacier took my breath away—it was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. I also wrote a dedicated post about my experience!

🧊 Day 2: Matanuska Glacier ✅

A two-hour drive from Anchorage led me to the Matanuska Glacier, where I enjoyed a relatively easy glacier hike. My recommendation? Go in the afternoon for fewer crowds and better lighting for photos!

🧊 Day 3: Harding Icefield Trail

This hike was hardcore! Spanning over 9 miles and climbing more than 3000 feet, the trail rewarded me with stunning glacier views. The landscape transformed dramatically—from lush forests to alpine meadows and eternal snowfields. It felt like a slice of heaven! 💔 Make sure to wear hiking boots and carry bear spray for safety!

🧊 Day 4: Seward Kenai Fjords Tours ✅

I opted for the 7.5-hour Major Marine tour, where I was lucky enough to spot humpback whales breaching, sea otters holding hands, and even a distant puffin. The sight of a 1-mile-wide glacier left me utterly amazed. Just a tip: take seasickness medication if the waters are choppy!

🧊 Day 5: Bear Glacier Iceberg Kayaking ✅

Unfortunately, due to rain and high winds, my kayaking trip was canceled—but it just leaves me something to look forward to next time! Instead, I booked a Dog Sled Ride Tour. Although we didn’t have the sled in summer, we got to ride with 14 amazing dogs for a 20-minute run through the forest. Plus, I got to cuddle some adorable puppies! 🥲

🧊 Day 6: Exit Glacier Ice Hiking Adventure ✅

This was the real deal! If you’re fit and ready for a challenge, I wholeheartedly recommend it. We first hiked a portion of the Harding Icefield Trail before detouring to explore the glacier. Our guide took us to thrilling spots, including ice caves and crevasses. Walking along the cliffside to view the stunning blue ice formations was an experience I’ll never forget!

🧊 Day 7: Departure

As I wrapped up my week in Alaska, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the experiences I had. From the stunning landscapes to the thrilling adventures, this trip was truly unforgettable!

For those interested in planning a similar journey, I recommend booking the Bear Glacier excursion with Liquid Adventure and the Matanuska tour with local guides. Most of the other activities were booked through Viator. 🗺️
