Documenting My Journey: From Novice to Influencer
This is my 202nd note, and it’s incredible to reflect on how far I’ve come in just over a year. There was a time when I didn’t even know where the “publish” button was, nor did I understand the concepts of themes and positioning. The idea of becoming a popular content creator seemed like a distant dream.
However, I was eager for change. I wanted to break free from the monotony of binge-watching shows, shopping mindlessly, and leading a life that felt stagnant. I craved exploration beyond my comfort zone to discover what more I could achieve! And so, I took a bold step and clumsily published my very first note. This led to my 10th, then my 100th, and now, I’m celebrating my 200th!
It’s been 21 months since that moment, and I’ve transitioned from feeling lost to a place of fulfillment. I’ve experienced many unexpected delights along this journey, and I’ve transformed into a self-media content creator.

If you’re feeling ordinary like I once did, and you aspire to change your life through content creation, I encourage you to take that initial leap. Be bold!
1. Stop Overthinking and Just Start
Many friends often ask, “Can I create content if I don’t know how to shoot videos or write?” They express a desire to start but are held back by self-doubt. The truth is, overthinking often prevents us from taking action. It’s better to act 1 time than to just think about it 100 times.
Store away those negative thoughts and begin by writing from your strengths. Start from a small corner and capture moments that resonate with you. By stepping away from self-imposed limitations, you’re already breaking free from your constraints.
Focus on creating at least 50 consistent posts. Use feedback from data and your audience to discover your strengths!
2. Avoid Complaining About the Environment; Focus on What You Can Control
Every newcomer faces challenges like not gaining followers and feeling overwhelmed. Rather than lamenting your circumstances, disassemble successful strategies from other influencers and pinpoint areas of improvement.
- Content Ideas: Identify popular topics from relevant influencers or trending pages, especially those with high engagement that align with your voice.
- Titles: Use formats like numbers + methods + results and pain points + solutions to hook your audience.
- Covers: Maintain consistency in style and make your visuals easily recognizable, whether you use collages or single images.
- Copywriting: Be relatable and honest. Genuine, heartfelt storytelling resonates with audiences.
3. Don’t Give Up Easily; Trust in the Power of Repetition
If you feel talent isn’t your strength, rely on the power of persistence! Regardless of the statistics, commit to shooting videos, writing, analyzing trends, and revisiting successful content.
Integrate these little activities into your routine. Aim for 2-3 consistent posts weekly, always updating and never giving up. With time, your efforts will yield results!
4. Don’t Get Caught Up with Equipment
The tool you use has never been the barrier. Rather than dwelling on your equipment, sharpen your skills and focus on perfecting your craft!
Here are my go-to tools for content creation:
- Shooting: iPhone 14 Pro + tripod
- Image editing: Light photo editor + a collage app
- Document editing: Collaborative writing docs + quick note apps
Action is the only weapon to combat anxiety. Trust in your ability, and go ahead and write those first 100 pieces. If I can succeed at 40, so can you!
I hope my journey inspires you to take that first step! 🌟
